WayPoints Mod NeoForge setup
NeoForge is the modern mod loader used on newer Minecraft versions. If you are playing on the 1.21 line, NeoForge is usually what you want. Here is how to set up WayPoints Mod with it.
Forge vs NeoForge in one line
NeoForge grew out of Forge and is the default loader for many current versions. The install flow is almost identical; the key is to download the WayPoints Mod build made for NeoForge and your exact Minecraft version.
Step 1: Install NeoForge
- Download the NeoForge installer for your Minecraft version from the official NeoForge site.
- Run it and choose the client install option.
- Open the Minecraft Launcher and pick the new NeoForge profile.
- Launch once to confirm it loads.
Step 2: Add the mod
Open .minecraft/mods (create it if needed) and drop in the WayPoints Mod file for NeoForge. Download it
from the official download section and make sure the version matches.
Version check: for the 1.21 line, confirm whether you are on 1.21.1, 1.21.10, 1.21.11 or another point release, and grab the matching build. See the 1.21.x guide for details.
Step 3: Launch and mark the map
Start the NeoForge profile, load your world, and add your first waypoint from the menu. The HUD compass will begin showing direction and distance right away.
Common NeoForge issues
- Mod not loading: almost always a version mismatch — recheck the build.
- Wrong loader: a Forge build will not run on NeoForge and vice versa.
- Crash on startup: update NeoForge and remove any mismatched files.
